2021 saw a record number of resignations across the US, and skilled labor—like many other industries—desperately needs new talent. There are currently 650,000 construction job openings in the nation, according to ABC, and this number is only rising. According to Shelley Halstead, Founder and Executive Director of Black Women Build in Baltimore, this issue is as much about equity as it is about jobs. That means we need better representation in the trades, vaster access and exposure, focus on possibilities for Black women and girls, and much more.
